About Simon Family Tower NICU
The Simon Family Tower NICU is a 60-bed, Level IV neonatal intensive care unit. Critically ill newborns are admitted from around the state that may require ECMO, surgical interventions, Neuro-NICU care, or several other high-risk and specialty services. Nurses work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide compassionate care and support to patients and families as they celebrate successes, navigate the challenges of complex diagnoses, or face end-of-life decisions.
Nursing skills gained on this unit:
- Critical care assessment skills of the Level IV NICU patient
- Ventilator management, including high frequency jet and oscillator ventilators, invasive lines, IV drips
- Training opportunities for Aquadex & ECMO
- Assist with bedside procedures such as: central line and chest tube placement, intubation, ECMO, and surgeries performed at bedside for patients too critically ill for OR
- Bereavement Care

Qualifications
- Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
- Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
